Rainy Day in Gubbio

I studied in Italy last year and became friends with a young woman from Vietnam. On a gray Saturday in December, we went to Gubbio and walked. And talked. I vented about Italians always speaking English to me. She vented about people always thinking she is Chinese. We talked about feeling conflicted: missing home, but not wanting to leave Italy. The picture itself was a fluke. I stopped to tie my shoelace, and when I looked up, my friend was ahead of me and I snapped this shot.

“Rainy Day in Gubbio” received an honourable mention in the 9th Accenti Photo Contest.
